Lesson four shows in Part Three of the novel that the conflict of moral codes between and within characters is revealed to be a conflict in how to view the world, i.e., as metaphysical. The rest of the lesson reveals how both Rearden and Dagny grasp the metaphysical basis of the conflicting moral codes within the context of Galt’s strike.
