This two-part lesson begins by discussing the differences between comparing induction and deduction. Instruction on how to induct by simple enumeration is followed by a discussion of experimental induction using Mill’s methods of discovering causal connections. Finally, major inductive fallacies are examined, including hasty generalization, oversimplified generalization, and post hoc. The lesson also contains the justification for induction and examines the argument from analogy.
